Gold Play 7*…..New Orleans

The New Orleans Pelicans nearly pulled off the win in the series opener before a CJ McCollum 3-point field goal fell short as time expired in a 94-92 loss to the Thunder in OKC. The Pelicans now need to regroup and try to knot the series up at a game apiece in game two. They will again have to do so without Williamson so that means they’ll need strong contributions up and down the roster. The Pelicans only scored 92 points in game one while shooting just 38.5% from the floor. The Pelicans finished the regular season 12th in the NBA in field goal shooting percentage. The Pelicans also finished fifth in 3-point shooting but hit on just 28% of their long-range shots in game one. Defensively, the Pelicans were solid in game one after holding the high-scoring Thunder to just 94 points in game one. The Pels also held OKC to just 43.5% from the field overall and 31% from 3-point range. They had a good night on the boards as they grabbed 52 rebounds in the game. The Pelicans should see an uptick in production as well after shooting under 40% in game one. While Williamson was sorely missed in the opener, the Pelicans have gone 8-6 without him this season and have shown the ability to score. Expect this game to be played in the 100s and enough of a production adjustment to result in this game being an easy point spre cover.
